Sick is as sick does

Our little guy has been under the weather for a couple of days now. I woke up this morning with pain all over my body from the weather flip-flopping in Texas, a migraine, and my lower back feeling like it was splittingšŸ˜– I have 2 lower lumbar herniated discs that do what they want (including giving me nerve pain), and I have peripheral neuropathy which can sometimes leave my entire body feeling like all my bones are broken. When the weather gets cold, I suffer horribly and that is what I woke up to today.

Thankfully, because of my health issues I’ve had years to train our children to step up around the house when I need them to, and they are doing a darned good job! They only completed school work for 2 hrs this morning (because I needed as much quiet as possible with a migraine and to get SOME kind of rest). Rooster & I stayed in bed literally all day. He got up a few times to potty & eat & watch tv in the playroom (where he’s been quarantined šŸ˜). I’ve been under my heated blanket and laying on top of one of those disposable heating pads that you can stick to your body.

When my kids were younger, I would lock them in the room with me while I rested & medicated myself. Snacks & toys were strategically placed around the room & the tv was on to keep them occupied.

Do you prep your kids to manage themselves when you’re not well? How?
